The 2019 QCED show at Ocean Shores was stellar!
Last year we moved to the Convention Center at Ocean Shores, Washington. We put on what is probably our best show ever and received rave reviews from local attendees. We will be there again in 2020 (at least!). You won’t want to miss it.
There are enough of us that we also perform as a chorus, and if I do say so myself, we are quite good. Starting last year (2019) we held our show at the Ocean Shores, Washington Convention Center. It was most likely our best show ever. We received rave reviews, and will be repeating at that venue on February 22, 2020. We found the local people very receptive, and the town has a lot to offer.
With the enthusiasm is as high as it was last year, we have booked the Convention Center for the next five years! Don’t miss it!
Greetings to all,
On behalf of the Convention Center staff, I would like to thank you for bringing such a beautiful concert to our fair City. I believe the turnout was the largest I have seen for an evening concert in my years of service to this facility. You are all SPECTACULAR!! Everywhere I went today, people were raving about the quality of performances and hopeful that you are returning next year.
You get an “A” for brightening up our evening. I hope to hear from you soon to be able to confirm your concert for February 2020. Again, thank you all for sharing your talents. Cheryl @ the sunny beach.

Here was the article from the local paper about the show:
By SCOTT D. JOHNSTON
More than 40 singers performed at the Ocean Shores Convention Center Saturday night with a broad range of songs and styles all performed by barbershop quartets.
Show chair Ted Chamberlain explained the annual winter concert by the Quartet Champions of the Evergreen District (QCED) demonstrates the breadth of the barbershop genre. There were humorous numbers, jazzy renditions and even a four part harmony take on the “Spiderman” theme.
The international Barbershop Harmony Society has several membership districts with annual competitions, including the Evergreen District, with quartets from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, British Columbia and Alberta. In 1972 a group of past Evergreen District champions founded the QCED to promote their style of music.
Their winter show has been in Seaside, Oregon, since 1985. QCED president Charlie Boon said the group chose Ocean Shores for this year’s concert because of the beach and the venue: “We need a destination that will draw a good number of performers for a fun weekend.”
For the first time at Ocean Shores, they were adding seats to accommodate the crowd of well over 300 soon after the doors opened. “It was fantastic,” Boon beamed, noting the enthusiastic response the local audience delivered. He said the group has already booked the same date for next five years at the Convention Center. “It’s been an absolute joy working with the Convention Center staff,” his daughter, Laurie Boon Fowlkes, added.
The QCED Task Force is on it!
We are going to create another stunning barbershop event in Ocean Shores February 22, 2020 at 7 PM. It will again
be at the Ocean Shores Convention Center. The music team, comprised of Doug Broersma and Mike Menefee are in
the process of selecting the music the chorus will perform, and the new songs the chorus will learn. Ted
Chamberlain (Ocean Shores resident and QCED member) will be working with local folks to give the next show
wider exposure. The Task Force has determined that Ocean Shores will be the location for this show for at least
the next 5 years! (Book your room now!) We have commitments from 7 quartets! More details will be on the
