Bob Swanson Awardee

Bud Roberts (pictured right) was presented the 2011 Bob Swanson Award.

Bud has been the QCED "Treasurer Extraordinaire" over most of the past 18 years, and an over-achiever when it comes to keeping its informed on matters financial.

He also set up the QCED Groupanizer account and has been its keeper for the past two years.

Bud has Evergreen champion medals singing bass with Bright Side (1974), Four Cheers (1977), and Pacific Pride (1983). All three of these District Championships were with Bob Swanson, for whom the award was named. 

In addition, Bud sang (and still does) with Over Time, the 2000 Barbershop Harmony Society Senior Quartet Champions.

Congratulations, Bud! It's an honor well deserved.

 

Bob Swanson Award

The Bob Swanson Award (more commonly known as the "BS Award"!) was first given in 2002 in memory of longtime barbershopper,  Bob Swanson.

When Bob passed away in 2001, he had the distinction of holding the most District Championships of any Evergreen barbershopper: Brightside (1974), Four Cheers  (1977), Pacific Pride (1983), Heyday (1991), Extra! Extra! (1995), and Reunion (1999).  

Bob gave totally of himself to QCED and almost single-handedly made the organization what it is today: one of good fellowship and dedicated to furthering efforts to improve barbershop quartet singing in the Evergreen District.

The plaque is awarded during the QCED Seaside weekend to honor those who follow Bob's footsteps and give of themselves to QCED and to fellow barbershoppers.
